About Us – a few things about our lovely boutique resort

Morbagh means Peacock and Garden

Morbagh Eco Haveli, perched in the simmered embrace of Mandawa, Rajasthan, is more than simply a haweli—it is a window to a period when life went at the pace of the wind, laughter echoed in open courtyards, and the warmth of a home was a way of life, not just a feeling.

The story line of Morbagh starts with a pie in the sky. Its founders, Jessica Amita and Virendra have two different backgrounds (she’s half Italian, half French and he’s Indian) but they shared the best of their experiences to create a place where  the spirit could breathe and reconnect with the beauty of simplicity.

Our inspiration stemmed from his childhood memories such as the earthy aroma of rain-soaked mud, the chatter of sparrows at dawn, and the golden hues of sunshine streaming through windows.

The name Mor Bagh which combines the word “Mor” (Peacock) and Bagh (garden), carries the reverberations of the past. Together they bring to light a work of art that conjures the opulence of the most vivid colours seen in nature. It’s more than just a sobriquet, it’s an emotion, a hankering for the good old days when each petal had a story to tell and each colour had a significance.

A small travel trough history

Morbagh Eco Haveli revives the soul of Shekhawati through its quiet elegance and restored charm.

Set amid lush gardens, it recalls a time when Mandawa flourished as a vibrant trading hub on ancient routes.

The haveli’s arches, courtyards, and textures carry echoes of artisanal craftsmanship and timeless design.

Here, sustainability is not a concept but a lived experience woven into every detail.

It invites travelers to slow down, observe, and connect with a richer cultural rhythm.

In its stillness, the past feels present—gentle, immersive, and enduring.

Mandawa as we know

Mandawa, in the heart of Rajasthan’s Shekhawati region, rose to prominence in the 18th century as a key stop on ancient caravan trade routes.

Founded by Thakur Nawal Singh, the town became a thriving center for merchants and traders moving between Delhi and the Silk Route corridors.

Its prosperity gave rise to grand havelis adorned with intricate frescoes, earning it the title of an open-air art gallery.

These painted mansions reflect a unique blend of traditional Rajasthani themes and colonial influences.

The town played a vital role in shaping the mercantile and artistic heritage of the Shekhawati belt.
